This is the plain-English version, and it's the real one. Scentd is a place to keep a diary of the candles you burn — we only want the data we need to make that work.

What we collect

  • Your Google account basics. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. We use these to create your account, show your profile, and let you sign back in.
  • The things you create.Reviews, ratings, burn logs, shelves, and candle requests you add on Scentd. Most of this is public by design — it's the whole point of a shared review site.
  • Outbound-click analytics. When you tap a “buy” link to a retailer, we record that the click happened (which link, and when) so we can measure interest and account for affiliate commissions. If you're signed in, that click is associated with your account.

Cookies and sessions

We use cookies for one main job: keeping you signed in. These are essential authentication and session cookies — without them, we couldn't remember that it's you between page loads. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

What we don't do

We do not sell your personal data. We don't rent it, and we don't hand it to advertisers. We may earn affiliate commissions from retailers when you buy through our links, but that never involves selling your information — see our affiliate disclosure for how that works.

Deleting your data

You can ask us to delete your account and the personal data tied to it at any time, and we'll take care of it. Just reach out through the site — see below — and let us know.
